Meet our Team
Dr. Harvery Reiter
Dr. Reiter graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry and moved to New Mexico after having practiced in Washington, DC for many years. After living in large cities most of his life, he finds life in Las Cruces relaxing and the people very friendly. Dr. Reiter has had over 40 years of experience in dentistry.
Dr. Reiter has completed several continuing education courses about dental implants. Some of the most impactful trainings were at the Trinon Collegium Practicum, at the Engel Institute, and with Dr. Todd Shatkin at the Mini Dental Implant Center of America. Dr. Reiter continued his training with mini residences in full-mouth reconstruction, TMD, and sleep apnea. He also received his certification in oral sedation dentistry to provide anxiety-free, painless treatments for his patients.
While his goal is to help people keep their natural teeth as long as possible, he realizes that there comes a time when this is not possible or practical. When Dr. Reiter learned about the magic of dental implants, he immediately committed himself to becoming competent in this area. He has personally lost teeth and had them replaced with implants and therefore realizes how life changing these can be.
Dr. Reiter realizes that fear keeps many people from seeking dental care, so Advanced Dental is committed to providing excellent dental care in an environment that is as pain-free as possible. Dr. Reiter is certified in oral conscious sedation to further accomplish this goal.
Dr. Reiter knows that Cost is always a factor, so he has researched and found several outside financing companies that can help patients as needed so there are economical solution for most patients.
To keep up with the latest in technology and technique, Dr. Reiter takes over 100 hours of advanced education a year even though the state’s requirement is only 55 hours every three years.
Dr. Reiter has a son who is an attorney and a daughter who is a CPA. He is happily married to Kathy Trinh from Saigon, Vietnam, and some of his favorite past times are car racing, traveling, reading, and target shooting.
Shauna Schmidt – Head Receptionist
I am from Las Cruces, NM born and raised. I love greeting our patients and working with them when it comes to insurance concerns as well as financial concerns. I love the face to face with patients and being able to comfort them when they are uneasy about treatment. My favorite past time is camping, BBQing, watching football and spending time with my son, daughter and fiancé, as well as close friends.
Mariangelina “Mari” Ramirez – Head Assistant
My name is Mari Ramirez. I am 30 years old and have been in the dental field for about 11 years. My mother was a dental assistant for 25 years so my love of dentistry comes from her. I grew up in Northern New Mexico and moved here 8 years ago. I enjoy going to the gym and shooting on the weekends.
Aylin Moreno – Dental Assistant
I chose dentistry because I love the idea of being a part of a patients’ life changing experience. Being able to comfort a patient and help bring their confidence back is what I strive for. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Las Cruces, NM. What would people be surprised to know about me? I think people would be surprised that I love to fish. I find it extremely relaxing and peaceful. One thing I would want everyone to know about me is that I am a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan! I am also a huge Tim Burton fan, specifically the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. Being among friends, family, and football is what I love to do most. I really enjoy traveling and having fun, exciting and new experiences.
Kathy Trinh – Hygiene Coordinator and Accounting Specialist
I was born in Saigon, Vietnam and was very lucky to be able to move to the United States in 1994. I lived in L.A. and San Francisco for a number of years before moving to N.M. in 2005. I love working in the dental office mostly because I love talking to my patients. They come in very nervous and I always talk to them and make them feel relaxed. This is something that I love to do. I like watching Real Estate Fixer Upper and singing especially at church. I have a good sense of humor and can help my patients laugh and feel good about our office. I’m proud to work with a dentist as skilled as Dr. Reiter.
Sarah Padilla – Head Of Dental Hygiene
My name is Sarah and I am a New Mexico native, born and raised in Alamogordo. After six years of college, I graduated from Dona Ana Community College in 2010 with an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Since I was a child, I have always enjoyed helping others and had an interest in science and health care. After my first experience observing in a dental office I knew dentistry would be my life. Today, I am enjoying each day with a fulfilling career that I love and am cherishing every moment of life with my husband, two daughters, and son, who is expected to make his debut this October. We are an outdoor family who loves hiking and watching any type of sport. In my “rare”, spare time I enjoy restoring old furniture and creating art on wood with stain, while listening to calming music.
