Welcome back to the Advanced Dental of Las Cruces blog!
With summer comes fun in New Mexico. The Farmer & Crafts Market is booming, folks are headed out to Dripping Springs for a hike. Plus, there is good music in the air along with the inviting smell of cook-outs, and, in general, the living is easy in these parts.
Because it is so easy to get lax during this season, we want to encourage you to keep an eye on your smile and all of its needs.
To help you with that, for today’s post we have assembled some ideas for keeping your mouth fresh and your smile looking great through the dog days that lie ahead.
Please keep reading, and then be sure to get in-touch with one of our team members to schedule your next preventive dental appointment at our Las Cruces area office.
Turn On The Tap (Not That Kind!)
While there is plenty of seasonal brew to be found, drinking water is always your best bet. Keeping your body hydrated is essential. But did you know that it will also help you keep your breath smelling good? Yep! Water allows you to make enough saliva to ward off the bad-breath-causing bacteria. That is reason enough to turn on the tap!
No Sugar Tonight
Sugary snacks may sound appealing when you are on the go but they won’t be good for your oral health because all that sugar will feed the bacteria that causes cavities. If you don’t want Fall to be a season of fillings, forego the sugar!
Brush Before Bed And When You Arise
Your agenda may be altered but you should continue brushing your pearly whites for 2 minutes at a go, at least twice each day. This will keep tooth decay and gum disease from causing trouble down the road.
Make Sure You Floss
It really isn’t a lot to ask that you floss daily. To effectively remove the food, plaque and tartar that remains between your teeth after brushing, dental floss is the necessary weapon.
Rinse When You Can
Good fluoride mouthwashes exist. These can provide extra protection for your smile. And we think your smile is worth it!
