Taking care of your family’s dental care is something we take pride in at Advanced Dental. With our family dentistry services, we aim to make your visits comfortable and convenient.
Is family dentistry different from general dentistry?
This is kind of a trick question, because the answer is both yes and no. Yes, they are different, because family dentists will treat children, and general dentists may or may not treat children. The second part is no, they are not different in that they both offer preventive care such as dental cleanings and dental exams and use similar treatments to help their patients.
When can my child start seeing Dr. Reiter?
Dr. Reiter treats children from the age of 12 and up, or younger children with all their permanent teeth. This allows him the ability to work with the adult teeth that they will have for the rest of their lives. We can suggest a number of wonderful pediatric dentists who can see your younger children.
How can I help my child be comfortable at the dentist?
The first step is to take them with you when you come to see us. Let them see that there is nothing to be afraid of at the dental office. This will also give them a chance to get to know some of the staff and establish a level of comfort with them. All of this will help contribute to a healthy outlook when it comes to getting their teeth taken care of.
When should I take my child to the dentist for their first appointment?
The ADA recommends that you take children to their first dental appointment when they are six months old, or when their first tooth erupts, whichever happens first. Although this is too young to be seen by Dr. Reiter, once your child “graduates” from their pediatric dentist, Dr. Reiter will be right there to help them get and keep a great-looking smile.
