Restorative Dentistry Services in Las Cruces, NM
The function of your smile is important for eating and speaking well. Make sure you have the function you need with help of restorative dentistry from Advanced Dental.
What is restorative dentistry?
Restorative dentistry focuses on the function of your mouth rather than the look of your smile like cosmetic dentistry does. Restorative dentistry includes dental fillings, root canal treatment, dental crowns, dental bridges, dental implants, and even dental veneers.
What kind of dental fillings does Dr. Reiter use?
Advanced Dental is an amalgam-free dental practice. You will receive composite resin dental fillings to restore your tooth affected by a cavity (tooth decay). This means no metal sticking out on your tooth when you smile – all you will see is natural white. The composite resin will bond more completely with your existing tooth as well.
Is root canal treatment painful?
No! At our office, root canal treatment feels about the same as having a dental filling placed. In fact, many times the nerve in your tooth is too damaged to feel anything in the first place. This makes the numbing agent we use more of a precaution than a necessity.
What are dental crowns?
A dental crown is a cap-like structure that fits over a decayed or damaged tooth to do two things. The first is to protect the tooth from further damage, and the second is to restore the tooth to full function within your smile. We also have partial crowns (inlays and onlays) available if the damage is not extensive enough to warrant a full dental crown.
What type of dental bridges does Dr. Reiter offer?
Our dentist offers the traditional fixed bridge, which consists of two dental crowns with a fake tooth bonded between them, and implant-retained bridges, which use dental implants to keep them securely in place.
Aren’t dental veneers a cosmetic dentistry fix?
They are, but they also have restorative value when it comes to cracked or chipped teeth. They bond to the front of the affected tooth and support the tooth to keep it from cracking further. The veneer is also able to stand up to many of the biting forces in your mouth.
How can dental implants help me?
They help you by giving you a tooth replacement option that is as close to your real teeth as modern dentistry can get. You get back everything you had with your real, healthy tooth: appearance, function, stability, and health.
